TIPA and G.Mondini to produce fully compostable packaging

Following successful trials, TIPA has announced that its compostable packaging will be used as a liner for tray sealer equipment company G.Mondini’s paper packaging solutions.

CompostThe partnership will see G.Mondini offer paper-based, fully compostable packaging solutions for wet, chilled, frozen and fresh food products. The TIPA film will act as a liner to create a barrier against oxygen, moisture, and humidity.

The packaging will carry food waste to compost in line with Italy’s regulations, which see compostable plastics collected with organic waste. In other markets, compostable film can be removed from the board for disposal.

Chen Katz, Chief Revenue Officer of TIPA, said: “Our exclusive partnership with G.Mondini is opening the doors to more opportunities for customers to see their food in compostable packaging.

“In our joint breakthrough innovation, we are creating packaging applications that can address some of the industry’s most pressing needs: sustainably packaging wet, chilled and frozen foods.

“We will be working closely with G. Mondini to deliver on this unique design that drives the compostable movement forwards.”

Paolo Mondini, General Manager at G. Mondini SpA, said: “Providing customers with differentiated products thanks to our cutting-edge innovations and sustainable packaging technologies, whilst achieving cost savings, is our priority.

“Our steadfast dedication to innovation is the core of everything we do at G. Mondini and our unique 360° customer approach is making the difference in our new solutions.

“Member states across the EU are leading the way with sustainable practices and together with TIPA, a leader in certified compostable films, we are developing innovations which will drive a future-proofed level of sustainable packaging products.”
