Resource Association to partner with CIWM conference
The Resource Association, a professional advocacy body for the reprocessing and recycling industries, is to partner with the Chartered Institution of Wastes Management (CIWM) and the Environmental Services Association (ESA), to host their joint conference next year.
The announcement was made at the launch of CIWM’s report on the circular economy yesterday (4 November), and demonstrates increasing collaboration between the different sectors of the waste and resources industry.
Speaking to Resource, CIWM Chief Executive Steve Lee said: “The conference is already a strong partnership between CIWM and ESA. The industry is growing at a fantastic pace, and we need to make links, we need to make friends, we need to influence a broader pool of people, and the fact we can work with the Resource Association for the conference in 2015 is a wonderful signal to the market and is something we want to build on, bigger, faster, stronger.
“As such, I am delighted that the Resource Association will be joining us and ESA as a partner for our annual conference in 2015.”
ESA’s Director General, Barry Dennis, also commented, saying: “ESA are pleased that the Resource Association will be joining its partnership with CIWM for the Annual Conference in 2015. This conference is the seminal conference of the year, and by working with both organisations, we believe that the industry will have a more unified voice when engaging with government, customers and our respective members on key subjects including the circular economy, waste crime and regulation."
He continued: "We all know that increased collaboration across our sector is vital to improved resource efficiency and the emerging circular economy, and that applies to us as much as the constituent parts of our memberships.
“We look forward to collaborating on what will be an agenda-shaping conference embracing all parts of the resources supply chain, and coming hard on the heels of the general election.”
The CIWM Conference is to take place on 24-25 June 2015 at the Royal College of Surgeons in London.
