Reconomy’s skip hire app hits major milestone
Sitebuddy, an app that lets customers hire a skip quickly and easily, has processed over 1,000 waste movements since July 2018.
The smartphone app was developed by Telford-based Reconomy, a company specialising in outsourced waste management and recycling. Reconomy coordinates more than 12,000 waste movements every week, offering skip and container hire, waste handling equipment, hazardous waste solutions, food waste collection and more.
The first app of its kind for the waste industry, Sitebuddy appears to have found a gap in the market, hitting the milestone of 1,000 waste movements less than four months after its launch. The app was designed with site personnel and procurement teams in mind, working in parallel to Reconomy’s online portal, which collates each customer’s waste data to ensure a complete audit trail.
The company states it takes less than 60 seconds to process a skip or waste container order via the app, estimating that this has saved Reconomy customers over 30 hours of administration time in total. The app is available to download from Google Play and the Apple App Store.
Jamie Roberts, Reconomy’s Director of Managed Accounts, commented: “The feedback from customers using the app has been overwhelming positive, with many commenting on how easy SiteBuddy is to use and how much of a timesaver it is”.
Paul Cox, the company’s Chief Executive, added: “We’re delighted with the success of SiteBuddy, which is attracting more of our customers every day. We will continue to champion tech-enablement and pioneer new ways of working to improve our internal processes and benefit the experience of our customers.”
