Prysm Group offloads RWM to Roar Techmedia
RWM, the recycling and waste management industry’s leading trade show, has been acquired by trade exhibitions organiser Roar Techmedia from Prysm Media Group.
Bristol-based Prysm Media Group, which had owned RWM since January 2018, had moved its entire collection of environmental exhibitions to Birmingham’s NEC to run alongside RWM, including the European Contamination Series, the Flood Expo and Marine and Coastal Civil Engineering Expo.
The sale is no surprise to industry insiders, as Prysm’s approach to the show had not been viewed in a positive light by some established exhibitors and the wider professional audience.
In addition to RWM, Roar Techmedia has acquired several trade shows in the healthcare, environmental and marketing technology sectors, having secured investment to do so from private equity firm Apiary Capital.
Roar Techmedia has significant experience in exhibition management, as the company’s Chairman Russell Taylor has previously managed ITE Group and Earl’s Court and Olympia.
Roar Techmedia will now work in partnership with CIWM to ensure the show maintains its industry-leading position. Chief Executive of CIWM Sarah Poulter said: “RWM is the major event for our sector and CIWM welcomes this opportunity to work with Roar Techmedia to take the event to the next level and create a relevant and exciting offering that meets the sector’s future needs.
“Smart and sustainable resources and waste management is rising quickly up the agenda, with major policy developments planned across the UK, the mainstreaming of circular economy thinking, increased support for innovation, and a renewed focus on developing new UK infrastructure to ensure that the UK economy can benefit from our waste materials. The RWM event is the perfect place to showcase the dynamism and problem-solving capability of the sector and encourage collaborative working to deliver real resource productivity and efficiency.”
Duncan Kirk, CEO of Roar Techmedia, commented: “The healthcare, environmental and B2B marketing sectors are not only growing rapidly in terms of investment, but are also high on the public agenda. More effective management of the aging population, large scale commercial recycling and digital transformation, are all critical to how we live, communicate and work.
“The potential to revolutionise these events not only in the UK, but also internationally, is significant. Out management team’s experience of engaging global audiences, with programmes of high-quality content will deliver a new experience to attendees and exhibitors alike.”
Dan Adler, Partner at Apiary Capital, added: “Roar Techmedia is taking advantage of a rapidly growing market opportunity and has a uniquely dynamic and powerful approach.
“The proven expertise of Roar’s management team, aligned with our track record in this sector, made it a compelling position for us. We look forward to working with the team as they implement their exciting plans for the exhibitions and to supporting the growth and global expansion of the business.”
