Man charged with Pendle Skips murder
Detectives investigating the death of 49-year-old Pendle Skips employee Stephen Whitehead (pictured) have charged a man with murder.
Aaron Jenkins, 20, of Devonshire Road, Burnley, was arrested on Friday (31 July) on suspicion of murdering ‘casual employee’ Stephen Whitehead, who was found dead in the kitchen of Pendle Skips’ premises on Balderstone Close in Burnley on Monday (27 July).
A post mortem examination found that Whitehead had died as a result of ‘extensive head injuries’. It is thought that the injuries were caused by a weapon.
Lancashire Police had originally arrested a 34-year-old man on suspicion of Whitehead’s murder, but he was later released without charge. Further enquiries into the murder investigation then led to Jenkins being arrested on Friday.
A 16-year-old girl from Padiham had also been arrested, and has now been charged with perverting the course of justice. Both Jenkins and the girl, who cannot be named for legal reasons, will appear at Burnley Magistrates Court today (3 August).
