Its current product range includes recyclable cups, cartons, bottles and pots, with each product being fully recyclable as well as being made from recycled or sustainable materials capable of being recycled with currently available waste management infrastructure.
An immediate priority for Frugalpac will be tackling coffee cup waste. Currently, the UK uses over 2.5 billion disposable cups are used every year in the UK, with only one out of every 400 being recycled. If the cup lids are included, 4.1 billion drinks cups and lids are estimated to be used this year, with that figure predicted to rise by 33 per cent by 2030. The Frugal Cup, which adds only a very thin layer of plastic to the inner layer of the cup, was introduced in 2016 and Frugalpac claims that it is able to be recycled in UK paper mills.
Commenting on his appointment, Waugh said: “I am delighted to be appointed Frugalpac’s new CEO.
