Every can counts drinks can recyclingMolson Coors becomes the first brewer to sign up as an annual UK funding partner of Every Can Counts, a not-for-profit programme with the mission to increase aluminium can recycling rates by empowering people to recycle empty cans ‘on the go’, with a focus on events and festivals.

Every Can Counts is a partnership between drink can manufacturers and the aluminium recycling industry, that aims to achieve a 100 per cent recycling rate for drink cans. The focus is on making it easier for consumers to recycle cans while they’re out-of-home, with a team of ambassadors working to raise awareness and collect cans at many high profile festivals and events.

Molson Coors has already removed all single use plastic from its multipacks, having switched to cardboard wraps and sleeves in 2021. The Coors brand pioneered two-piece aluminium can design during the 1950s, which reduces waste through the production process.

Kate Macnamara, Corporate Affairs Director at Molson Coors, said: “We’re looking forward to working with Every Can Counts to support more eye-catching and innovative activations at festivals and events across the UK.”

Chris Latham-Warde, Programme Manager for Every Can Counts, said: “It’s great to see industry giants lead the way in encouraging their customers to recycle their drink cans at events and festivals and we’re looking forward to working with them to help raise awareness and inspire recycling across the nation.”
