The leading event for the lighting industry's journey towards sustainability returns for its third year, featuring an expanded programme and exhibition.

Circular Lighting Live, the established gathering of the lighting supply chain to assess its progress towards net zero, is set to take place on Wednesday 9 October 2024 at the Royal College of Physicians in London. Organised by Recolight, the UK's leading environmental compliance scheme, the one-day conference and exhibition aims to bring together over 300 of the lighting industry's top executives to explore how the sector can become part of the circular economy.

The event's agenda for 2024 covers a wide range of topics, including the legislative and regulatory landscape, the role of artificial intelligence in assisting firms with data, the opportunities and challenges of the emerging lighting remanufacturing 'ecosystem', 3D printing, circular design, and sustainable materials such as bioplastics.

Notable speakers include Signify chief design officer, Ton Borsboom, who will examine if AI and digitalisation represent the next revolution in sustainable design, and Orms architect Rachel Hoolahan, who will explain the concept of materials 'passports' for each luminaire.

This year's event features an expanded exhibition floor and a dedicated track for lighting designers. In the Designer's Track, Paul Beale, founder of 18 Degrees, will share his journey of forging connections throughout the industry after salvaging hundreds of office lights.

Commenting on the importance of the event, Ray Molony, event chair, said: "Many have well-established environmental plans in place and will cheerfully deluge you with data about the provenance of their luminaires. Others are just embarking on their journey towards a circular economy. But what's clear is that the mass movement has begun and it's gaining momentum. Phrases like 'remanufacturing', 'circularity' or 'embedded carbon' are becoming common currency, and lighting designers are having serious conversations with clients about reusing luminaires."

Exhibitors at Circular Lighting Live 2024 include ASD Lighting, BELL Lighting, Glamox, Holophane, Llumarlite, Regen Initiative, Signify, and Stoane Lighting. The event is free for specifiers, and the early bird discounted booking rate ends on Thursday 31 July.
