Chris Brown appointed new CEO of ECO Plastics
Plastic recycling business, ECO Plastics, has today (1 August) announced that it has appointed Chris Brown (former Business Unit Director of rigid plastics packaging company APPE UK) as its new Chief Executive Officer (CEO).
Brown will take over from the business’ founder and former Managing Director Jonathan Short, who becomes Deputy Chairman of the board. ECO Plastics’ board is completed with the appointments of new Chairman, Bill Reeves, and Chief Financial Officer, Darren Marr.
Under the new structure, Brown will assume responsibility for ECO Plastics’ day to day operations and management, while Short will ‘step back’ to focus on 'product innovation, cementing relationships with industry agencies and authorities and work with the new Chairman on the business’ medium and long-term strategy'.
Commenting on the announcement, Short said: “We are delighted to name Chris as our new CEO. He has a wealth of experience, is well respected throughout the FMCG [fast moving consumer goods] industry and will slot straight in.
“More than anything, today’s announcement is demonstration of the huge progress that ECO Plastics has made since we reopened in 2010 [following a fire]. These appointments leave us ideally positioned as we look to take our business into its next chapter, with a board that has huge industry experience and expertise.
“Having enjoyed a record month in both operational and financial performance during June, I am now looking forward to seeing us go from strength to strength.”
Brown has more than 18 years of experience in the plastics sector.
